Specialization in Business Mathematics
Program Description
The Specialization in Business Mathematics offers students in the Business Administration, International Business Administration and Information Systems majors the opportunity to give their education a strong quantitative emphasis. Numerous business-related professions demand advanced skills in mathematics and statistics making these skills a prerequisite for any future career. Proof of the successful completion of 20 ECTS credits in business mathematics also significantly improves the candidates’ chances of being accepted into an English-taught MSc program, for example Quantitative Finance.
After completing the Specialization in Business Mathematics, students have gained the following skills:
- Linear transformation and matrices, systems of equations, eigenvalues, quadratic forms, single variable calculus, multivariable calculus, optimization, multiple integrals
- Data structures and algorithms, development, implementation and testing of software programs, numerical mathematical methods for linear and non-linear equations, optimization
- Random variables and distributions, expected values, independence, conditional expectations and martingales, mathematical financial models in discrete time, options and derivatives
- Basic statistical inference, estimators, testing hypotheses; special applications such as regression and multivariate statistics
